Let Me Fill You In. . .

In case some of you who view our blog don't get our weekly family updates, I thought I would fill you in on the chaotic "happenings" from over the last few weeks.

If you have ever kept a journal before then you certainly know the feeling of neglecting to write for a while and then not knowing where to being when you finally get back to starting another entry. That's kind of what it is like for me. . .I'm not so sure where to start!

Life is usually busy for our family. There's never a time to sit and wonder, "Oh what is there to do today?" There is always something going on. . .always things to be done, always places to go. It was a couple weeks before Christmas when a disaster struck. . .literally. We had an ice storm. Trees, limbs, ice, fallen power lines and poles. . .it was a real mess! Thank the Lord for keeping us all protected. To make a looooong story short, a family in our church moved into our house for over a week because they had lost their power for that long. It was a real blessing to us to be able to minister to them in that way.

During that time, life did not slow down. Cleaning up from the storm has taken a while and we are still working on it. Over the month of December Alyssa and I had taken on the challenge of making holiday wooden crafts. Though we did not really advertise well due to a lack of time and energy, we still were able to sell quite a few things. And the best part - we were able to have a lot of fun while working together!

Christmas came and flew by before I could even register the fact that it really was Christmas. We did enjoy a wonderful Christmas Eve service with our church family. There are pictures of the evening posted below. All of us teen girls decided to wear evening gowns to make the night extra special. It was a beautiful night of singing, special music and reading of the Christmas story.

And we even had snow for Christmas! Although. . .it rained Christmas day and was gone in about two days. :) The day after Christmas was a well-awaited day because our close friends, the Rofe family, were able to come visit for a day. Pictures of our time together are posted below as well. With 8 people in one family and 7 in the other. . .let's just say the house is alive with 15 people going in all directions. :)

Now that we are finally able to take a breather, we must turn right around and prepare for a special baptism service and our church's 5th year anniversary. Like I said - we stay busy, and I like it that way!

I hope you had a blessed, enjoyable Christmas. Have a happy, healthy New Year as well!

Merry Christmas!
During this Season, it is our family's privilege to share greetings of joy as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God's Word tells us of His Son born as a man, coming to die in our place, and offering the gift of eternal life to all who believe and call on His Name.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
John 3:16

Fryeburg Fair

Going to the Fryeburg Fair is sort of a tradition in our family. Each year we plan on going and looking at the animals, eating fried dough, watching the horse pulling, shopping, etc. Our family was able to go on Monday, and like always, it was an awesome day! We didn't get a lot of pictures, but will post one of the horse pulling team (one of the most important events of the day :).

Forgot the Camera

When we went to the barn on Monday night I forgot to bring my camera. :( So no pictures of the horses this week, but keep looking out for them. I'll get them posted as soon as I can!

A Day At Plymouth

We traveled two hours for a field trip to Plymouth Plantation today. The weather was simply gorgeous - the air chilly and the sun bright! We enjoyed our time even though it was our second visit there See the movie below.

An evening at Blessings Farm

As of a few weeks ago we were told about a horse farm about 15-20 minutes away from us. After checking it out and finding that they were a non-profit ministry to underprivileged children that needed lots of help, we decided to volunteer on Monday nights. We were thrilled!

Last night we picked up our friend, Jane, and headed to the barn. The pasture was extremely muddy. Going to get the horses was no easy chore, especially since you sink at least six inches into the icky muck with each step you take! (One of the kids lost their boot!)

Volunteering at the barn usually involves picking a student to work with and helping them groom, tack, etc. Last night was a good night - we were groomed and saddled right on time. During lesson time, Leroy and Caleb got the feed ready while Amelia and mom observed and helped out.

After feeding and letting them back out into the pasture we found out we got done five minutes early. It was a great night, and a beautiful ride home going through the country roads. We were able to see a gorgeous full moon just as we were coming home. We will post some pictures probably next week.
